Creating an inviting and energy efficient exterior and interior entryway is a top priority when remodeling this portion of a home.   Jeld-Wen's two-panel steel exterior door styles are available to enhance the curb appeal and energy efficiency of entryways.

Made from 24-gauge steel, the doors feature wide panels and crisp design details, and come pre-primed and ready to paint. Optional lites and sidelites are available to further enhance the look you are wanting.  In most cases, these doors retain their tax credit eligibility when lites are added.

This gives you one more reason to consider looking into this type of door while designing a new entryway for your home remodel.

I really love this idea!  During these summer months we need all the help we can in keeping down costs to cool our homes.  This Glydea motorized drapery system by Somfy can create a space that is not only unique but gives you the best use and functionality that curtains can provide.   A convenient solution for glare reduction and privacy, Glydea also reduces energy costs and protects furniture from damaging UV rays.  They also extend the lifespan of draperies by eliminating the damage associated with manual operation.

Glydea is available for all types of draperies such as Pinch Pleat, RippleFold, and Accordia draperies, and is compatible with various types of controls such as hand-held remotes, wireless wall switches, table top controls, timers, and third-party automation systems.  Glydea is backed by Somfy’s 5 year international warranty.

When designing a home remodel we want to encourage as many energy saving ideas to help save you money.  This system definitely can do just that and give you the look you want after the remodel is complete!

Custom Wine Cellar Doors

If you’re lucky enough to be building a wine cellar for your next big home remodel, you don’t want to forget about the door.

Not only do you need a way to keep the wine cellar the right temperature for your favorite vintages, but you need a door that looks appropriate for what is probably going to be one of the cooler (as in nifty and neat) storage areas in your home. No modern off-the-shelf doors from the home improvement store will work if you want your wine cellar to look like something from centuries past.

The door shown here was done by
Pinecrest, Inc. The family-owned business specializes in custom wood products, so pretty much whatever you can imagine you can have done for your wine cellar.

Just don't forget to invite us over for a drink after we finish the project!

Air-Purifying Roof Tiles by MonierLifetile

All of us have seen the brown cloud of smog and dirt that hovers above the Phoenix Valley at one point or another.  Want to be a part of a solution?  Here is a roofing tile that MonierLifetile, a Boral Roofing company, claims eats smog.  When the titanium dioxide tile is exposed to sunlight, it starts breaking down the nitrogen oxide molecules, which is a leading cause in air pollution, and speeds up the oxidization process, reducing pollution in our air.

It's said that during one year, 2,000 square feet of tiles can destroy about the same amount of nitrogen oxide as a car produces from being on the road for 10,800 miles.  If you're looking for another amazing 'green' building material to use in your next home remodel, this definitely is a product that you really want to consider.

Faux Stone: A Rising Trend

This stuff is really quite interesting.  It's a product called Faux Panels.  It is designed to look and feel just like stone and covers existing walls anywhere in your home.

There are countless ways to incorporate faux stone into a home remodel.  The example here is a kitchen remodel.  The stone shows off the beautiful color blends of tans, grays, and brown stone, complimenting the cabinetry and highlighting the double oven appliances.  There are other great ways of using for this product.  Fireplaces, back splashes, accent walls or even the exterior of your home can be finished with this product.

This post ties into the current design of a home remodel we're doing here in the valley using a very similar product by Weathered Stone.  Click

Recycled Glass Countertop

Picture
Who would have thought a recycled glass countertop could gleam and sparkle the way granite and quartz does?  Vatrazzo does just this using a combination of recycled glass and cement.  85% of the total material is actual recycled glass making it one of the greenest products in today's market.  All you do is choose a mix (glass colors) from a wide range of pallets Vatrazzo provides.  A very unique draw to using this product in a kitchen or bathroom remodel is knowing that no one else has a countertop that looks exactly like yours!

This has to be one of our favorite products for a "green solution" home remodeling trend.  We would love to show you samples of this exquisite material that could create a design possibility for your next home kitchen or bath remodel.
