Wood tiles have been a popular choice in creating a retro-design for those restoring older homes.  Flux Studios Fortis Arbor wood mosaic tiles are made using bamboo scraps and are assembled with low-VOC adhesives making it a 'green' solution for a bathroom or kitchen remodel.

Wood tiles handcrafted from solid bamboo, teak and rosewood can be used in virtually any interior application with limited water exposure.  Fortis Arbor Wood Mosaic Tiles, are a great alternative to the usual ceramic tiles.  Each tile is cut by hand, and the materials are harvested through partnerships with furniture makers in which Flux Studios collects off-cuts and cast-off wood pieces.  Fortis Arbor Grout was developed specifically to move with the natural expansion and contraction of Fortis Arbor wood tiles. It allows for maximum performance and easy installation of wood tiles.

I never get tired of finding kitchen faucets to share with you all.  Here's one that is simple and practical yet stylish at the same time.

Price Pfister's Rembrandt Pull-out Kitchen Faucet has a bold, high-arc design unique for a pull-out faucet, allowing it to accommodate larger pots, similar to a more traditional pull-down style. The Rembrandt Kitchen Faucet can be mounted in one-, two-, three-, or four-hole configurations, to fit any kitchen sink, with matching soap dispenser on the two- and four-hole designs. Adding to its versatility is Rembrandt’s transitional style, which makes it easy to integrate into both traditional and more contemporary-remodeled homes.

If you are like me, I avoid having to look far into the back of my sink base cabinet.  You just don't know what lingers there... a possible slow leak or grimy spill from dish soap.

Merillat Classic cabinetry has made available a product that is designed to address minor spills and plumbing leaks.  It's called a CoreGuard Sink Base.  With the exception of the cabinet’s face, frame and door assembly, all the wood and wood-based materials were replaced with an engineered polymer material, making the product easy to clean and maintain.

After your newly remodeled kitchen cabinetry has been installed, this type of product gives you added piece of mind in protecting your newly remodeled investment.  But don't just take my work for it; take a look at the video below.

Refurbishing Old Cabinets with a Glaze Finish

06/17/2011

If you are considering replacing your old cabinets for newer cabinets... take a look at this first.

The Cinnabar wet glaze finish by Decora can be painted over existing cabinets.  It works with wood’s natural beauty to expose variation in tone while highlighting the natural texture. The warm reddish-brown glaze shades darker on bold wood such as alder and appears lighter on cherry and maple, a variety that can provide a unique accent to a room or work as a neutral complement to a variety of room elements. The glaze is shown here on Willshire maple cabinets alongside the Bombay island.

So if you want a fresh new look in your bathroom or kitchen, maybe think about refurbishing your old cabinets first, before replacing them.  Give us a call and we'll give you our experienced option on whether this is a good idea for your next kitchen or bathroom remodel.
